About the Position
Position Summary
Precision Diesel & Machinery LLC is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician 3 with demonstrated proficiency in EPA Tier 3 and Tier 4 emissions systems. This is a full-time, hands-on technical position working on Class 4–8 commercial trucks, agricultural equipment, and heavy machinery at our Yakima, WA shop.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, Perkins, and Kubota diesel engines and is comfortable diagnosing and repairing DEF/SCR systems, DPF regeneration issues, and EGR system failures on modern Tier 4 Final equipment.
We operate on the Fullbay shop management platform and serve a growing fleet customer base that depends on accurate diagnostics, fast turnaround, and DOT compliance documentation. If you are tired of flat-rate pressure and want to work in a shop that values quality over volume, this is your role.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities
Technical Repair & Diagnostics
- Complete engine diagnostics using OEM and aftermarket software on Class 4–8 trucks and heavy equipment
- Engine overhauls, rebuilds, and major component replacements on Caterpillar, Cummins, Perkins, and Kubota platforms
- EPA Tier 3 and Tier 4 emissions system diagnostics and repair — DEF/SCR, DPF, EGR
- Electrical and electronic systems diagnostics, including CAN bus and multiplexing
- Air brake system inspections, adjustments, and repairs (FMCSA / WA DOT compliant)
- Drivetrain repair — transmissions (auto & manual), differentials, driveshafts
- DOT Annual Vehicle Inspections (49 CFR Part 396) and WA State compliance inspections
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems troubleshooting and repair
- Preventive maintenance program execution — fluids, filters, brakes, tires
Fullbay Shop Management Platform
- Create, assign, and manage service orders from intake through invoicing
- Monitor technician time clock and labor tracking against service orders
- Manage parts inventory — real-time stock, reorder triggers, parts receiving
- Review and approve service order estimates for accuracy
- Generate shop performance reports to identify efficiency trends
- Utilize work authorization workflow for all threshold-exceeding repairs
Safety, Compliance & Shop Standards
- Enforce OSHA and Washington State WISHA safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment at all times
- Ensure technician compliance with FMCSA, EPA, and WA DOT regulations
- Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks with the team
